FAQ's

Can I bring toys or special bedding, or food to your kennel?
Answer:  Yes, by all means.  Bring anything special to make your pet feel at home.  We ask that you do bring your own food in order to keep your pets diet the same.

How large are  your kennels?
Answer:  Our kennels are 4ftX4ft, which is a wonderful space for most dogs even larger dogs. The kennels can be transformed into 8ftX4ft if needed and if we have the extra space available at that particular time.  We also have smaller kennels for little dogs and cats.

Do you provide Doggie Daycare?

Answer:  Yes we do provide daycare for dogs at $10.00 per day. This will not include an overnight stay.  However, you  still will have to provide us with the current and updated vaccination records for your pet.

Can I tour your boarding facility?

Answer: ABSOLUTELY!  We encourage you to do this!  Please call us first just to make sure to schedule an appointment.  We love to meet new guests!  Feel free to bring your pet along!

Do you offer any grooming services?

Answer:  We are sorry, but we do not offer grooming at this time.  We can however refer you to a wonderful groomer in the area.  We do provide a bath for your dog before they go home to you after their stay with us here at Hidden Acres.

Will you give my pet medication during their stay?

Answer:  Yes.  We will do this for you at no extra charge if the medicine is in a pill or liquid form. Medications that are in a shot form will be $1.00 extra per day. All medications need to be in their original containers from the vet's office with the directions written clearly on them from your doctor.

What Vaccinations does my pet need?

Answer:  Dogs have to be up to date on RABIES, BORDATELLA (kennel cough) and PARVO. For cats, the standard kitty shots plus the rabies vaccination.  This is a standard guideline that most kennels will require from you before boarding. We will be happy to call your vet's office and ask them to fax us your pet's records.  Most vet's will do this with no additional cost to you.

What if I have a picky eater while they are in your kennel?

Answer:  Not to worry!  We will sit with your pet and feed them by hand if we have to in order to keep them healthy during their stay. We have special ways of helping them deal with the stress and anxiety of being away from home.  We can discuss special needs in more detail upon request.

What if my pet becomes sick while we are away?

Answer: We will always keep very close attention to our guests.  If we see that one is not feeling well, we will contact you first to see what you recommend.  If we are unable to reach you, than we will take your pet to the vet that we use.  Of course any charges for this visit will be the pet owner’s responsibility to satisfy with the vet’s office.

What are your hours?

Answer:  Our kennel hours will be 9:15am – 5pm Mon-Fri (with a lunch break from 2:45 – 3:45.  We will not be open to the public during that hour), Saturday 9:15am-12pm, and Sunday 3pm-4pm.  Please note that a departure on Sunday afternoon entails a charge for that day.

Will you put my dog in a kennel alone or with other dogs?

Answer:  Your dog or cat will be in a kennel of it's own! The only way
that we will ever kennel your dog or cat with
another guest is if
they are from the same home and it is requested by (you) the owner.

Are there any breeds of dogs that you do not kennel?
Answer:  Yes, and that is a very tricky question.  Please contact us for further information on this so that we can discuss this further with you and in more detail.

Do you have a flea policy?

Answer: YES!  We do a flea check on your pet's when they arrive.  If we do find fleas, we will give them a flea treatment at the pet owner’s expense of $5.00.  This will usually be in a dose of Frontline or if the fleas are severe it will be a Capstar pill and a dose of Frontline Flea Preventive.  This is something that is very important to protect your dog or cat as well as our other kennel guests. We will give your dog a bath before you pick them up to take them home to ensure that they are clean and flea free.  Fleas happen!  We all know that, and especially when it comes to dogs, but we try our hardest to keep those little buggers away!

Does my pet have to be clean when they arrive at your kennel?

Answer:  We love it when you bring your pet to us clean and smelling good.  It just makes it nicer for everyone and much more comfy for your dog.   We do ask that your pet is clean and healthy when they arrive.
